Suicide Bombs In Pakistan

I know I haven’t blogged in a while and the couple of people who read this have long since given up. BUT I saw something this morning that has me shaking in anger so much that I need to just write my frustration out.

Perusing through my usual morning blogs, I saw on Changing up Pakistan that there had been two suicide bombs attacking Shia Muslim processions in Karachi and in Lahore. One of the bombers is confirmed to be a 13 year old and the other is also speculated to be a child suicide bomber.

First of all, may the souls of all those who died rest in peace and may those injured recover beautifully. May God help the families get through their losses and distress.

Now, the ultimate question: What. the. FUCK. humanity??!! It’s not like I haven’t seen documentaries (or one in particular) on the training of child suicide bombers in Pakistan that had me in tears. But it’s stories like these that hit home.

There are madrassas in the country that I grew up in and that I associate so strongly with my identity where little children are being taught to hate the people whose faith differs from there’s. There are children who hate the idea of Shia Muslims so much that they are willing to blow themselves up and destroy thousands of lives with them (the 100 they physically hurt and the other thousands would be the loved ones’ sufferings).

What is so wrong and so unconceivable about teaching children about the importance of love and acceptance instead of spewing such animosity! WHY are Veena Malik and the character of Governor Taseer’s children on the forefront of people’s questioning minds but NOT THIS SICK SHIT that goes on?! Why can Frontline harass Veena Malik to no extent but no one is bringing Qari Hussein and calling fatwas against him! WHY?

People are SO concerned with the image portrayed of Pakistan and Muslims by Veena on a stupid show in India but what about this?? What kind of image is this portraying?? Screw hatred for the outside world—Pakistanis are tearing Pakistani apart! Muslims are tearing Muslims apart!! What is so UNFATHOMABLE about differences in opinions?????

The world should just end in 2010. I swear I’m done with all this bullshit going on in the world in the name of religion. Whatever happened to religion being about having faith, and being a good person?!
